Repodo, a newly launched Danish audit firm built to run statutory audits with AI handling the repetitive work, has raised €8.2 million in pre-seed funding led by growth investor Hedosophia and Copenhagen-based venture firm Seed Capital. The founding team is unusual for the category: Ken Villum Klausen, Peter Andreasen and Joachim Strøjer Hansen — respectively the former CEO, CFO and CPO of Nordic digital bank Lunar — built the company with Anders Houmann, a qualified auditor whose license gives Repodo the legal standing to actually sign off audits.

The bet

The bet behind Repodo is narrow: audit's real cost driver isn't the accountant's judgment call at the end, it's the manual grind before it — gathering statements, reconciling ledgers, cross-checking transactions against documentation. Repodo is automating that layer while leaving sign-off untouched, on the theory that a licensed auditor's time, not software, is the scarce resource. "Audit is still built around an operating model that depends heavily on manual work," Klausen said in a statement, adding that AI lets the firm "redesign that model from the ground up—not by removing auditors, but by allowing technology to handle more of the repetitive processing."

Why an authorised auditor is the unlock

Repodo isn't a software vendor selling into audit firms — it is itself registered as an authorised audit firm, which is why Houmann, a practicing qualified auditor, sits among the four co-founders rather than as an adviser. Statutory audits require a licensed professional to accept legal liability for the opinion issued, a constraint no automation removes. Building the firm around that license from day one lets Repodo sell audits directly to small and mid-sized businesses, rather than licensing tools to incumbent firms with little incentive to cut their own billable hours.

The traction case: operators, not audit veterans

Hedosophia and Seed Capital co-led the round on the strength of a founding team that already built one large regulated financial company, not on Repodo's own operating history, which barely exists — the firm is only now launching. Klausen, Andreasen and Strøjer Hansen ran Lunar, which has raised over €500 million and serves more than a million customers, before Klausen stepped down as chief executive earlier in 2026. Sifted reported the €8.2 million round as Denmark's largest pre-seed to date, though the identities of the other participating investors were not disclosed.

The market and the rollout

Repodo is starting deliberately small: Denmark only, small and medium-sized businesses only, with a market-by-market European expansion to follow rather than a simultaneous multi-country launch. Repodo's own announcement sizes the addressable audit market at roughly €80 billion annually — far more geography and company scale than the firm can serve at launch. Hedosophia partner Sarra Zayani said the firm backed Repodo's plan to rebuild the audit operating model around technology while preserving the professional accountability the work requires, per Repodo's press materials.

The verdict

The open question is whether tooling built for a consumer fintech transfers to a profession whose product is a signed legal opinion, not an app. Repodo has disclosed no valuation, revenue, or completed-audit count — only that Denmark is the pilot market. The team's edge is real: operators who scaled a regulated company past a million customers, paired with an auditor who can vouch for the work. But that edge is unproven against audit's near-zero error tolerance, and the next year of client wins and regulatory filings, not the raise, will be the actual test.

How much did Repodo raise and who led the round?
€8.2 million in pre-seed funding, led by Hedosophia and Seed Capital with participation from other, undisclosed investors, according to Repodo's own announcement.

Ken Villum Klausen, Peter Andreasen and Joachim Strøjer Hansen — Lunar's former CEO, CFO and CPO respectively — alongside qualified auditor Anders Houmann.
What does Repodo actually automate?
Data collection, reconciliations, documentation and transaction analysis — the repetitive back-office work inside a statutory audit — while licensed auditors keep professional judgment and final sign-off.
